FC Twente and Universidad Católica have reached agreement on the transfer of Felipe Gutierrez to the Enschede club. Early next week, after the medical examination, the 21-year-old Chilean attacking midfielder will sign a five-year contract with FC Twente.

Felipe Gutierrez began his football career in the youth training scheme at Everton Vina del Mar. Following on from that, he made the move to Universidad Católica. He made his debut for this Chilean club in 2009 at the highest level. Gutierrez played 87 matches for Universidad Católica and scored 22 times. So far, he’s played in five internationals for Chile and last year he was part of the national team that took part in the Copa America.

Chairman Joop Munsterman:” Negotiations with Universidad Católica have taken some time, but were always in an extremely pleasant atmosphere. We are delighted that Felipe Gutierrez is coming to FC Twente. Felipe is a young and highly talented player who grew to become an international for Chile last season. At FC Twente he’ll have the chance to develop himself further in a European league.
